Finally, Yes, Finally--Of Course

Finally, yes, finally, the Tunisian Constitutional Assembly finished a new constitution. Finally, yes, finally, the international news carried it and there was a big hoop-la-la on the local news. Finally, yes, finally, the Prime Minister (from the ruling religious party) stepped down, and finally, yes, finally, the National Dialogue (organized by the most important Labor Union) agreed on a new Prime Minister, supposedly neutral. Finally, yes, finally, the new Prime Minister formed a new and supposedly neutral government [I mean really, do you believe in Santa Claus?]. And finally, yes, finally, the international financial institutions began pumping money into Tunisia's weakened financial structure.

Of course, the ruling religious party left only because they had diligently placed its members in key positions in major national companies, and in central, regional and local governments. Of course, the Constitutional Assembly (dominated by the out-going religious party) has voted to keep itself in power. Of course, the Constitutional Assembly has not yet created an electoral law or set a date for elections. Of course, the old Minister of the Interior remains. Of course, the President of the Republic (who has very few tasks and little power) remains in place. Of course, the economy's abysmal performance seems to concern politicians little, as long as their pocketbooks are plump. Of course,...well, the list is long.

In laymen's terms:
things are holding together, but, are in a tangled mess.

Now you may understand why my artwork is often so entangled.
As my sketchbook page indicates, I'm just going with the flow.

But, of course! The artist takes what is, reorders it to suit an aesthetic all her own, and stitches it in place. It's like voting. It's the way we make it all make sense even when it just doesn't. We color it the colors of our dreams and wishes. We believe it to be so so long as we create it every day, in every little way possible. We vote for our visions.

I wish I could comment as clever as Ms. - but I want to say that I love your entangled quilt and your post as well.

I guess you have to just hope for the best in a mess like that. I love your quilt!

I am so glad to hear a sigh of relief from your post. I am concerned for you all. Hopefully this is the beginning of better things to come.
I love the way that entanglement in the quilt says just what's going on.

Politics are complicated it seems no matter where you are, but it seems that there has been a step forward in your area. I think it's so true that art ends up reflecting life.

We're tangled here as well. Boy- wouldn't I like to straighten them all out myself! We quilters could get it all pieced back together! Just stay safe!

Let's hope that Libya makes progress and gets a constitution written... elections for the committee are underway :)

Love the colors and yes... go with the flow!
